Apparently, the origins of this holiday are fuzzy, but why not take it literally and put on your own shoes today? And, of course, I’m recommending a book to go along with this holiday that just might help a little someone be encouraged to put on shoes (and clothes):
Most families can relate to a child reluctant to get ready in the morning. Robin Currie’s book takes this common scenario and gives it a clever twist. When the child in the story “turns into a dinosaur” and argues that dinosaurs don’t wear shirts, socks, and so on, Mom suggests that he “be a velociraptor” (and others) to “grab some fish” (and so on). This book is perfect for the preschool dinosaur lover and anyone who battles against the morning routine.
