Today is a day to celebrate our planet and to show support for environmental protection. After all, our earth supports our lives every day in many ways. One small step you can take to learn more about our world is to read a book. Yes, even a board book. And do I have just the book for you. It’s really out of this world!
This book is out of this world! From the concept to the rhyming text to the non-fiction information to the illustration, I am in love. Photos don't do it justice--you must hold this book in your hands yourself to really appreciate the beauty of this board book about our beautiful planet. Sue Lowell Gallion's story is told in perfect, rollicking rhyme for even the very young to enjoy, but also includes more in-depth information about Earth's geography that inquisitive children, care givers, and educators will love. List Feng's illustrations are just beautiful. And if all of that wasn't enough, this book's shape and design really take this book to a whole new level. A book about our world that opens into a globe shape? Really?! Like I said, out of this world!

I’m all for reaching for your dreams (I’m doing that as a writer now) and I love picture books, so a picture book that encourages and inspires youngsters to reach high is a win-win for me. Today’s recommendation is…
First off, you can’t go wrong by pairing the fabulous Beth Ferry and uber-talented Molly Idle, and this book does everything right! Beth’s lyrical rhyme makes this book fun to read aloud, and her message to young readers is expertly woven in her text. By showing the reader what “we believe” in, she encourages children to believe in themselves and their dreams. Molly’s adorable illustrations of animal parent-child pairings showcase her signature style with a soft color palette and flowing lines. This book has lions and bunnies and bears and a beautiful message that we all need to hear.
