Review: Look on the Bright Side Day!

​Sometimes it’s tough to look on the bright side, but I think the perfect way to make an attempt is by reading a really good picture book. And what better book to celebrate this special day than with a book called THE PERFECT DAY?

OPENING LINES: The warmth of the sun … felt good on Cat’s back. Cat liked to be in the flower bed where the daffodils grew. It was a perfect day for Cat.

​Where do I start? How about with the book jacket: feel it, open it wide, take it all in! The bears! (yes, plural – you must look at the back flap to see bear #2 and reveal what is probably the story behind the story) The bird! The squirrel! The texture! I was in love before I even read the text. Turn the page … the warm sun and sweet kitty invite you into the story. I can see why it was a perfect day for Cat. And a perfect day for Dog and Chickadee and Squirrel. THEN … enter Bear! What is not to love about this book? The art, pacing, the page turns, the text, the plot, and, of course, the ending. But you’ll have to get a copy for yourself to find out what happens. Love, love, love!
