Do you play the piano? Have you ever performed in a recital? Today’s recommendation is perfect for you (or anyone, really)!:
This lyrical picture book, told in cumulative structure, is about a young girl preparing for her piano recital. While the text cleverly informs the reader about the parts of a grand piano, it also tells a fictional story of how a nervous child wows the crowd with her performance. Anita Bagdi’s lush, jewel-toned illustrations paired with Jen Fier Jasinski’s musical text capture the pitch-perfect tone for an evening performance. The book contains all the bells and whistles—illustrated end papers, nonfiction back matter about the parts of a piano, suggestions for how to have “the best recital experience possible,” and instructions for where to find the publisher’s complimentary educator resources. I highly recommend this stunning picture book!

Imagine—inside a tiny seed contains the possibility of a beautiful flower. And inside a beautiful flower contains tiny seeds that can once again grow into more flowers. Imagine! That’s what today’s picture book is all about:
This lovely picture book follows a child as they wander through nature and imagine the possibilities in the things they hold in the palm of their hand—a forest in an acorn and sandcastles in a grain of sand. Raudenbush’s comforting, lyrical text combined with Conti’s dreamy illustrations make this the perfect book to read to a child snuggled on your lap. Definitely add this one to your bookshelf!
