We ALL can relate to having a bad day. How about today? I know just the book you can read to help you get out of your funk:
Poor Mootilda! Nothing is going her way today, and her mood goes from bad to worse. It’s a cow-tastrophe! All readers will relate to having a bad day. Children will enjoy Corey Rosen Schwartz and Kirsti Call’s rollicking rhyme and barnyard puns, and repeating Mootilda’s refrain, “I’m in a bad MOOOOD!” Claudia Ranucci’s bright illustrations capture Mootilda’s humorous expressions as well as those of all of her friends who try to help. And if readers look carefully, they will see that Mootilda isn’t the only one having a bad day. This book has it all!

Now this is a day to celebrate! The world can always use more kindness, and what better way to celebrate than with a picture book about friendship, inclusion, and kindness.
Oh, how I love this book! The story starts on the cover: A boy and his pet elephant stand, facing a door with a sign: Strictly No Elephants. Then the opening pages (hugged in elephant-gray end papers) tell the reader that the boy doesn’t feel like he fits in. His pet may be different from everyone else’s, but he clearly loves and cares for him just like any good pet owner (and friend) would do. Not to worry! The boy finds a friend who also feels excluded, and they find more friends, and so on. Spoiler: they make their own pet club, and, in the end, everyone wins. Lisa Mantchev’s text evokes emotion and empathy, and Taeeun Yoo’s soft color palette complement the tone of this story of inclusion, friendship, and kindness. With elephants, skunks, giraffes, penguins, narwhals, and friends, this is a win-win!
