When my children were little, they really loved running around either partially or fully in the nude. I know I’m not alone which is why I think both young and not-so-young will really enjoy:
Pablo is excited about Party Day, so he eats breakfast, brushes his teeth, uses the potty, washes his hands, and gets dressed. Well, not quite. Pablo insists, “No Pants!” After some explaining, coaxing, negotiating, and silliness, Pablo and his dad finally head off to the party, fashionably late. Jacob Grant’s all-dialogue text is accompanied by cut-paper illustrations in hues of golds, reds, and blues. I love the expressive characters and especially enjoyed watching how the family dog plays a behind-the-scenes role all his own. This story has everything from a silly but familiar concept, a father-son relationship, and a dog sidekick to a surprise under the book jacket and even (despite the title) pants! This book is pure fun!

As a mom of five, I have a lot of memories of my little ones gleefully romping around the house naked after a bath, so the cover of this book hooked me right away. Then I read the story and I really fell in love:
This book starts in a way that many children and parents will find familiar—a young child gleefully romping around the house naked. But the title of the book will tell you that the focus will shift to Fred getting dressed. Like many children, Fred explores his parents’ closet and experiments with what he finds. I don’t want to reveal any spoilers, so I’ll just add that this story conveys themes of freedom, fun, inspiration, experimentation, acceptance, and family togetherness. Peter Brown’s illustrations give off a retro-vibe that are reminiscent of my own childhood, but I think this story has a timeless quality that all generations will enjoy. I hope you’ll enjoy FRED GETS DRESSED as much as I did!
Read this review on Goodreads and Amazon. Even the optimist has down day now and then. If you can relate to needing a little cheering up, read this picture book to see how Bear finds his Smile again:
This is a sweet story about Bear who, I imagine, is an ordinarily cheerful guy. So, when he wakes up one day to find that Smile is missing, he’s not quite sure what to do. He looks for Smile in all his favorite places, but Smile is nowhere to be found. Finally, Bird arrives, and (spoiler alert), in time, Smile appears. Ellen Tarlow cleverly tells this tale by personifying “smile” and Lauren Stringer’s adorable watercolor, gouache, and acrylic illustrations capture the right mood on every page. If you need a little cheering up, I recommend you read LOOKING FOR SMILE.
