Before you take your nap to celebrate this holiday, read a bedtime story about, you guessed it, bedtime! I remember how difficult bedtime could be with five children, but the Wink family has nothing on me. They have 40 Winks to put to bed each night:
I couldn’t resist reading this book by one of my favorite authors paired with one of my favorite illustrators, and it did not disappoint. This picture book has everything I love in a read-aloud: a cover that shouts, “read me!”, a clever title, a surprise illustration under the dust jacket, illustrated end papers, creative and spot-on rhyming text, an engaging storyline full of action (and about a very familiar and family-relatable topic), expressive characters, charming illustrations full of details to linger over, a call-to-reader “challenge,” and a satisfying ending that begs you to read the book again. Delightful, fun, engaging story. Loved it!
