Do you play the piano? Have you ever performed in a recital? Today’s recommendation is perfect for you (or anyone, really)!:
This lyrical picture book, told in cumulative structure, is about a young girl preparing for her piano recital. While the text cleverly informs the reader about the parts of a grand piano, it also tells a fictional story of how a nervous child wows the crowd with her performance. Anita Bagdi’s lush, jewel-toned illustrations paired with Jen Fier Jasinski’s musical text capture the pitch-perfect tone for an evening performance. The book contains all the bells and whistles—illustrated end papers, nonfiction back matter about the parts of a piano, suggestions for how to have “the best recital experience possible,” and instructions for where to find the publisher’s complimentary educator resources. I highly recommend this stunning picture book!
