As a mom of five, I have a lot of memories of my little ones gleefully romping around the house naked after a bath, so the cover of this book hooked me right away. Then I read the story and I really fell in love:
This book starts in a way that many children and parents will find familiar—a young child gleefully romping around the house naked. But the title of the book will tell you that the focus will shift to Fred getting dressed. Like many children, Fred explores his parents’ closet and experiments with what he finds. I don’t want to reveal any spoilers, so I’ll just add that this story conveys themes of freedom, fun, inspiration, experimentation, acceptance, and family togetherness. Peter Brown’s illustrations give off a retro-vibe that are reminiscent of my own childhood, but I think this story has a timeless quality that all generations will enjoy. I hope you’ll enjoy FRED GETS DRESSED as much as I did!
