While I think Being You Day is a great holiday, I think being you needs to be celebrated every day, don’t you? Here’s a picture book about someone who wants to be themself:
In this picture book, the narrator introduces the reader to a character named Bob who has the unique talent of being able to be whatever they want. But Bob isn’t Bob. Bob is Blob (with an L). And Blob gets tired of becoming different animals at the narrator’s suggestion. Blob just wants to be Blob. And there’s nothing wrong with that. This story addresses themes of staying true to yourself and reaching for your dreams, but does so without being too message-y. Anne Appert’s colorful, adorable illustrations match the fun, adorable text. I’m all for BLOB!
