When I heard it was Bosses Day today, the first book I thought of was…
To start off, the cover of this book hilarious--a baby, sitting in an exer-saucer, surrounded by a rattle, baby monitor, and bottle, but wearing a suit and tie! And if that doesn’t draw you in, the title tells you exactly what the book is about. Anyone who’s had a baby in their life knows that when a new baby arrives, it sure seems like that baby is the boss of the family. They can be demanding and particular, but also entitled to many “perks,” like drinks made to order and the “spa.” Marla Frazee’s illustrations of the Boss Baby in his suit-footy pajamas and briefcase, along with his frazzled parents, made me laugh out loud as I read the accompanying tongue-and-cheek text. This book will be appreciated by anyone who’s ever known what it’s like to be ruled by the new baby, from parent to grandparent to aunt or uncle to older sibling. This book is so good, you’ll read it over & over. And if you need a little change, you can check out it’s sequel, BOSSIER BABY, which is just as much fun.
