Am I the only one who doesn’t love bacon? For a while there I thought I was. Everyone seemed to be in on the bacon craze—maple bacon donuts, bacon ice cream, chocolate-covered bacon, chicken-fried bacon. I mean, really? Well, I may not love bacon, but I love this book about bacon:
If the cover (of a winking Bacon who is standing below his name in lights) doesn’t give you a clue about what this book is about, you won’t have to read beyond the first page to figure it out. In short, Bacon is pretty full of himself. Everyone loves him. Well, almost—not French Toast (who doesn’t like anyone) or the other breakfast meats who are a bit jealous of him. But I digress. Almost everyone loves Bacon, and Bacon loves all the attention he gets. Eventually he lets all the fame go to his head and, as a result, he’s not too nice to his old friends. This fun, cautionary tale is full of bright illustrations set in what appears to be a 50s-style diner. It includes bacon-wrapped end papers, smiling breakfast foods, fruits & veggies, burgers & club sandwiches, and stars Bacon, of course! Even if you don’t love bacon, I think you’ll love this cute & clever book.
